It’s a beloved holiday production that showcases exceptional local talent, beautiful holiday music and magnificent costumes.

“A Merry Christmas Show: Visions of Christmas” takes the stage at the Farmington Centene Center for two performances — at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 and 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.

Tickets are on sale now for $13 and $15 at the Farmington Civic Center, 2 Black Knight Drive.

This show, alternating every other year with “The Nutcracker,” is sponsored by the Young People’s Performing Arts Theatre. The YPPAT is a nonprofit organization formed in 1981 to enable local dancers to participate in a large-scale semi-professional production.

The show is under the direction of Artistic Director Kimberly Gavin Anderson, Assistant Director Maggie Jeude Haupt and Vocal Director Allyn Rizo.

There are 141 adults and children in the cast, and a crew of more than 50 volunteers works behind the scenes. Eleven board of directors also help make the production a successful community event, often working in the background.

With each performance of YPPAT’s “A Merry Christmas Show,” there are many long-standing and new cast members. Whether they’re performing on stage for the first time or someone is working backstage, the show brings generations together to celebrate the magic of the holiday season.
