MMC Board holds Nov. meeting
The Madison Medical Center Board of Trustees met Nov. 8 for its regular monthly meeting. The following board members were present: Denny Ward, Ruth Ann Skaggs, Connie Matthews, Kent Marler, and Libby Wood. MMC staff present: Lisa Twidwell, Administrator/CEO; Allan Sucharski, CFO; Jennifer Penuel, COO; Melissa Helm, Acute Care DON; Kristen Starkey, Nursing Home DON; Carol Hyatt, Director of Physician Practices; Maureen Medley, Administrative Assistant.
The following departmental reports were presented to the Board: Acute Care Nursing, SNF/ICF Nursing, Rural Health Clinic, COO/Human Resources, and CFO.
Kristen Starkey, Nursing Home DON, is one of the organizers of the Compassion Cafe` and serves as a R-1 School Board member. Carol Hyatt, Director of Physician Practices, and Lisa Twidwell, Administrator, are members of the MCCDD board. Linda Rhodes, Pharmacist, is a member of the Optimist Club. Beth Simmons, Marketing Manager, is a University of Missouri Extension Office board member and serves as president of the Madison County Chamber of Commerce. MMC radiology technologist, Betsy Mell, attends the Rotary Club meetings.
More than 400 trick-or-treaters visited Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Home on Halloween. November 9, the residents of Stockhoff held their annual Christmas Craft Sale in the nursing home’s Gathering Place. The money from the sale will go to the Activity Department to help fund activities for the residents. Proceeds from the MMC Auxiliary’s yard sale Nov. 4, will also go to the residents’ activity fund. November 16, the residents and staff will enjoy their annual Thanksgiving feast. Plans are for the newly-formed residents’ choir to perform at the feast.
MMC’s Urgent Care Clinic will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. the day after Thanksgiving.
The annual MMC Auxiliary Christmas luncheon will be Dec. 5.
MMC’s annual audit by CliftonLarsonAllen began last week and is expected to be finished sometime this week.
Lisa Twidwell, Administrator, and two MMC board members, Libby Wood and Ruth Ann Skaggs, attended the 101st Annual Missouri Hospital Association Convention at St. Louis Union Station Nov. 2.
The Board approved Christmas bonuses, in the same amounts as last year, for MMC employees.
After reviewing a property insurance renewal proposal from Selective Insurance, the Board approved a higher deductible amount for wind and hail damage, in order to decrease the cost.
The Board approved a request from Smith & Co. Engineers for MMC to sign an RC (restrictive covenant), which would prohibit the installation of future drinking water wells on its property, which is adjacent to the former T-Rex/C-Barn property, due to former underground gas tank storage issues on the adjacent gas station property.
