DESLOGE – David Alan Hughes, 67, of Irondale, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at his residence. He was born Sunday, April 1, 1956, in Bonne Terre, to the late D.J. and Norma Ruth (Mathews) Hughes. He was a long-time member and Sunday school teacher at Stony Point Missionary Baptist Church. David had a love for God, and it showed through the people he touched with his caring heart and mission to serve others. He was Executive Vice President of New Era Bank in Bonne Terre, Desloge and Park Hills, former Senior Vice President of Bank Star, former President of the Twin City area Chamber of Commerce, received the KREI 110% Service Award, Secretary of Park Hills Lions Club, and this past week Park Hills Lions Club foundation presented and honored David with the Melvin Jones Fellow award. The community will surely miss the dedication and contributions that he has shown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, John G. Hughes.
David is survived by his loving wife Donna (Ruby) Hughes of 22 years, two daughters, Allison (Hughes) McAtee and husband Jeremiah and Kayla (Siegel) Whelehon and husband Corey; and his two grandchildren that he cherished, Otto McAtee and Eleanora Whelehon.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 5 p.m. Until 8 p.m. The visitation will resume, Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Stony Point Missionary Baptist Church in Mineral Point, until the time of service at 2 p.m. Pastor Claude Evans will be officiating.
