Friday club holds November meeting

Provided by Linda Hogan

November 17, the Friday Club met at New Providence Baptist Church.

Janet Ward gave a blessing prior to the members enjoying the food provided by hostesses Sasha Starkey and Mellie Bentinganan. The potato soup, chicken pies, orange jello, apple bread braid, and cinnamon rolls were delicious.

The formal part of the meeting began with the reciting of the U.S. and Missouri flags by all members. The devotional “giving thanks” was provided by all members sharing what they were thankful for this past year.

The guest speaker was Sharron Tinnin with the Salvation Army. They are receiving donations now in front of Walmart through the bell ringing kettle drive. Sharron gave an overview of how 85% of the money received through the bell ringing drive stays here in Madison County. Sharron gave a breakdown of how the money was used this past year to meet the many needs of Fredericktown and Marquand citizens. This definitely showed us that they are good stewards for the money that the Salvation Army receives. The other 15% received goes to the Midland Division of the Salvation Army in St. Louis. They provide funds for disaster needs in the counties of our state, such as floods and tornadoes.

The minutes were approved as read by Linda Hogan. Carolyn Kegley, gave the approved treasury report. She also reported that our donation was given to the Senior Center.

With new business, the club voted to donate to the Madison County Food Pantry in December.

Members voted to move the December meeting to the eighth. Janet and Mellie will do the decorations and all members will bring snacks and a Dirty Santa gift item. Carolyn Kegley will provide the devotional.

The November meeting ended with the members reciting the club collect.
