FHS loses third place battle of the ‘Cats’

The Fredericktown High School girls basketball team lost the third place contest in the Fredericktown Tournament, Saturday.

The Blackcats lost 43-34 to the Cuba Wildacats. Amelia Miller led the Cats with 12 points. Ava Penuel scored eight, Maggie Wood scored six, Calie Allgier had five, and Gabbie McFadden scored three.

Fredericktown opened the tournament with a 55-19 victory over Salem, Nov. 28. Penuel led the way with 28 points. Miller scored 13. Allgier and Baylee Kelley each scored four. Wood, McFadden, and Keira Francis each scored two.

November 30, the Cats lost 41-34 to eventual tourney champ Hillsboro. The Cats led 14-12 at halftime and 30-27 entering the fourth quarter. Milled led with 11 points. Penuel scored ten, Allgier had six, Wood scored three, and Francis and McFadden each scored two.

The Cats lost 50-25, Monday (Dec. 4), at Doniphan. Penuel led the Cats with 15 points.

Fredericktown plays Thursday, at St. Vincent.
