IRONTON — The Arcadia Valley boys basketball team shifted momentum with a solid third quarter at home, and rallied past North County 63-57 on Wednesday night.
Dillon Mueller scored a game-high 17 points before fouling out late, and the Tigers steadily chipped away after the Raiders opened the action on a blazing 16-3 run.
Arcadia Valley (7-8) drew to within 35-31 by halftime, and eventually carried a 48-43 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
North County (2-12) regained the lead at 50-48 on a jumper by John Wruck with 6:39 remaining, but would not keep it for long.
Gavan Douglas answered with a 3-pointer from the right wing, and Gage Douglas extended pressure for an ensuing steal at midcourt before racing in for a layup.
The Raiders endured a crucial four-minute field goal drought, and Mueller sank a floater in the lane to make it 57-51 with 2:30 to play.
Gavan Douglas ended with 15 points, and Gage Douglas tossed in 13 for AV. Nolan Inman provided nine points, and Atreyu McCallister had seven.
Blayne Kennon scored 13 points, and Wruck contributed 11 to a balanced attack by North County. Zane Huff added 10 points, Preston Aubuchon totaled nine, and Landon Carroll ended with eight.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Kingston 53, Crystal City 20
CRYSTAL CITY, Mo. — Freshman guard Sadie Patterson erupted for 30 points, including nine in each of the first two quarters, and the Kingston girls snapped a 10-game losing streak on Wednesday.
Allison Hahn and Kelsey Courtway added eight points each, and the Lady Cougars rolled to a lopsided 53-20 triumph at Crystal City.
Kingston (2-15) outscored the Lady Hornets 14-3 in the second quarter to lead 31-13 at halftime.
Maya Hankins had 11 points for Crystal City (2-12).
Bismarck 53, Valley 22
CALEDONIA — Ashley Hawkins finished with 20 points to lead all players, and Bismarck topped Valley 53-22 in a conference make-up game on Wednesday.
Morgan Randazzo added 15 points, and Halie Dickey scored 10 to further propel the Lady Indians.
Bismarck (11-3, 2-1) jumped ahead 22-6 through one quarter after five team members contributed baskets, then blanked the Lady Vikings 15-0 in the third to extend a 31-15 halftime edge.
Kamryn Dickey tallied all seven of her points in the final stanza, and Alyssa Warren tossed in five more for Valley (5-10, 0-3), which attempted only two free throws.
Arcadia Valley 56, St. Paul 43
IRONTON — Sophomore guard Paige Newstead-Adams tallied 15 points, and Arcadia Valley defeated St. Paul 56-43 on Wednesday evening.
Braelyn Turnbough finished with 14 points, and Lillie Adams provided 13 for the Lady Tigers, who have won four straight games.
Arcadia Valley (11-6) carried a 32-22 advantage at halftime.
St. Paul (5-10) offered a solid challenge in defeat, getting the first basket of the third quarter plus an ensuing steal. A corner lob to Mia Sherrill soon trimmed the margin to 41-36.
The Lady Tigers held the ball for the next 45 seconds, however, and Newstead-Adams swished an open 3-pointer just before time expired.
Sherrill scored a game-high 17 points, and Julie Lunsford netted 16 more for the Giants.
BOYS WRESTLING
Farmington 57, CBC 15
FARMINGTON — Seven falls were registered by the Farmington boys wrestling squad during a 57-15 victory over CBC on Wednesday evening.
Aiden Hahn (106), Ian Sales (120) and Kyeler Aders (150) each secured victories in the first period as the Knights stayed unbeaten in dual contests this season at 10-0.
Zeke Moreland (144), Isaac Owens (190), Rowdy Vaugh (215) and Logan Earhart (285) also pinned their respective opponents to bolster Farmington.
Presley Johnson (126), Lane Weiss (157) and Ethan Turner (165) each won by decision, and Ryan Monroe (113) received the only forfeit.
