Home for City Light & Water and Development Services
The City of Farmington has issued an open invitation to the public for attendance at the open house for the new City Light & Water and Development Services offices which are now located at 101 S. Jefferson St.
The new facility, which originally housed the Farmington Fire Department followed by Big River Communications, will allow for easier public access and expanded office space. Public parking lots are available to the north and south of the building in addition to street parking at Jefferson Street.
The City Light & Water payment drop box has been relocated from Columbia Street to the south side of the new Jefferson Street location and offers drive-up convenience. Customers may also visit the office to make payments, set up new accounts, and present questions regarding their utility accounts.
The Development Services Department will continue to handle building permits, contractor licensing, planning and zoning issues, and code enforcement at the new location. The new facility includes a large meeting room that will be used for planning and zoning, historic preservation, public works, and building code advisory meetings.
The open house will be held at 5 p.m. on Feb. 8. The regularly scheduled City Council meeting will be held in the updated space beginning at 6 p.m. and will return to its regular location at City Hall for the Feb. 26 meeting. The public is always welcome to attend City Council meetings, with the exception of special closed sessions.
