‘Romeo and Juliet’ auditions March 10

Mineral Area College Fine Arts Theater on the Mineral Area College campus in Park Hills. Pam Clifton

Calling all talented people of the Parkland!

It’s almost time to audition for a well-known William Shakespeare play.

“Romeo and Juliet” will be performed May 3-5 on stage at the Mineral Area College Fine Arts Theater.

The famous play is the tragic tale of two young people who fall in love at first sight. Their feuding families complicate their love story.

The story is believed to have been written in the late 1500s. It’s been brought to life in various forms, from stage and film to musicals and even operas. Hundreds of years later, the story is as popular as ever. That popularity continues with upcoming performances of “Romeo and Juliet” on stage in the Parkland.

Auditions for the Mineral Area Fine Arts Academy production of “Romeo and Juliet” are Sunday, March 10 at 2 p.m. at MAC.

After “Romeo and Juliet,” MAFAA’s summer production is “Matilda.” Auditions for that show take place May 19 at 2 p.m. Performance dates are July 17-21. MAFAA’s Fall 2024 production is “Our Town,” but audition and production dates have not yet been set.

Questions about auditions or future productions may be directed to Jason Carr, MAFAA theatre director, at minerealareata@gmail.com.
