Storm Clouds Brewing (Standalone photo)

Ominous storm clouds make for an imposing presence over the Farmington Walmart Supercenter parking lot around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Around 9:30 p.m., several suspected tornados caused damage in Iron and Madison County as a line of strong storms moved through the region, causing considerable damage to the South Iron R-1 School and an apartment complex and business in Fredericktown. The storms brought power outages, scattered tree limbs, and damage to homes and vehicles throughout southeast Missouri throughout the day. Coincidentally, Wednesday was the 15th anniversary of an inland hurricane that caused extensive damage when it hit the region on May 8, 2009. Photo by Libby Jenkins
