LEADWOOD – Sophomore Teagan Stevens followed an outside kill by senior Amelia Miller with a solo block on match point for the Fredericktown volleyball team on Thursday night.
Kinleigh Gresham compiled 10 kills, 16 digs and two service aces as the Lady Cats topped host West County 25-10, 25-20, 26-24 for their third consecutive three-game sweep.
Maggie Wood totaled seven kills, 14 assists and three aces, and Livee McFadden dished out 17 assists while helping the visitors control the early action.
Fredericktown (8-2-2) tapped deeper into its roster during game three, and established a sizable 21-13 lead when on a middle kill by Ella Tinnin and ace from Riley Tinnin-Mangold.
West County (5-6-2) narrowed the gap following three kills by senior Kaytlen Hartley, then turned aside four match points to draw even at 24-24.
Grace Lynch paced the Lady Bulldogs with nine kills, and matched libero Ally Wigger with eight digs each. Hartley totaled six kills, seven assists, six digs and two aces.
Wood delivered two of her more impressive swings from beyond the 10-foot line in game one, striking down the line off a hustling bump pass from McFadden.
Alli Francis punctuated game two with one of her three blocks for the Lady Cats, and Miller equaled Teagan Stevens with five kills each.
Lilly Phelps contributed seven digs, and Ava Stephens added six digs with two aces.
Maylee Merrill supplied seven digs and two aces for West County. Addisyn Hedgcorth knocked down three kills while Lilly Thebeau and Lacey LaMarr had four assists each.
St. Pius 3, Potosi 1
POTOSI – St. Pius pulled away during the fourth set on Thursday evening, and topped Potosi 26-24, 18-25, 25-22, 25-16 as two of the top volleyball teams in the region squared off.
Bennett Raterman compiled 22 kills with three blocks, and Hannah Leftridge tallied 21 kills, 17 digs and 29 serve receptions to pace the Lancers.
St. Pius (17-1) surged to a 21-16 advantage before being pushed to extra points in game one. Leftridge snapped a 24-24 tie before an incoming attack carried long.
Two service aces by Layla Juliette and a middle spike from Ava Robart helped Potosi (10-3-1) rally for a previous 23-22 edge before a missed serve halted a 7-1 scoring push.
But the Lady Trojans shined brighter in game two as their opponents encountered some passing issues. Eden Robart spiked from the left side and Macyn McCarthy made a lunging dig to bookend a 5-0 spurt, and Ava Robart landed a perfect roll shot from the back row to help establish a 15-7 cushion.
Juliette squared the match with a solo block on set point, but St. Pius claimed games three and four. Junior setter Elena Ruble amassed an impressive total of 53 assists along with nine digs.
Ava Robert totaled 24 kills, 11 digs and four aces, and Eden Robart ended with 16 kills and 10 digs to power Potosi. Carsyn Yount dished out 41 assists and made six digs.
Kate Sherry added 13 kills for the Lancers. Harper Gass had 11 digs with 31 serve receptions, and Peyton Meyers landed three aces.
St. Pius had won each of its previous matches in straight sets.
Ste. Genevieve 3, Hillsboro 1
HILLSBORO, Mo. – Ste. Genevieve regrouped after losing the opening set to Hillsboro, and secured a 22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-15 road victory on Thursday evening.
Middle hitter Kailynn Harmon provided a team-high 13 kills, and equaled Aleah Filer with two blocks. Joleigh Parker finished with 16 assists and six digs for the Dragons.
Emma Gegg totaled eight kills, 16 digs and three service aces, and Sophia Huck finished with six kills, 13 assists and three aces while rotating all around.
Emme Browne picked up 13 digs, and Abby Boyer added 10 to bolster the defense.
Ste. Genevieve (5-5-1) also got four kills, nine digs and three aces from Kale Clements.
