Farmington schools community safety conversation on Sept. 24

In response to recent gun violence on school campuses across the country and multiple hoax threats about school violence in the Parkland, the Farmington School District is responding proactively. The district issued an announcement via multiple media outlets with an open invitation for parents, guardians, and the community to attend. On Sept. 24 at 5:30 p.m. the doors of the Black Knight Fieldhouse at 1 Black Knight Dr. in Farmington will open for a special evening that has been organized for important discussions about school safety and security protocols.
At 6 p.m. presentations will be made on a wide range of topics aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff, which will include, but not be limited to:
-Preventative measures the Farmington School District (FSD) has in place to maximize safety.
– Emergency operations, focusing on the identification of potential threats, immediate response protocols, and threat management and recovery procedures.
-Investigating and addressing threats and reports
-Procedures for reporting threats
-How families can prepare and contribute to overall safety efforts
The participation of parents, guardians, and the community is vital in supporting the shared goal of maintaining a safe and secure learning environment.
Resource tables will be available before and after the presentation. Free resources and materials will include: Remind Messaging help for families; Parent ProTech – a Free Social Media Resource For Parents; Emergency Response Guide For Families; Community Resources For Families; Building PTA Information; Local Law Enforcement and Frida, the therapy dog.
Door prizes will also be awarded at the event. A complete Blink home security system and student passes to all home sporting events will be given away.
