Announced by MAC: Mineral Area College’s Roger Greenland was presented with the 2024 Missouri Community College Association Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award. He is one of just two adjunct faculty members from throughout the state to be recognized with this award. The MCCA is an institutional membership organization that serves the citizens of Missouri and the state’s 12 community colleges through educational leadership, advocacy, networking, and information. As a representative body, MCCA works to build and strengthen relationships with state legislators and regulators to serve as a ready resource for policymakers on questions related to higher education and workforce training.
Since joining MAC in 2014 as a history instructor, Greenland has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication to education and student success. Drawing on his extensive experience at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and his education from the Naval War College, he brings a wealth of real-world knowledge to his American History, American Political Systems, and World Geography courses. Outside of the classroom, he has served as MAC’s Veterans Club sponsor, where he provided support and mentorship to veteran students and fostered a sense of community and recognition for those who have served.
Greenland’s contributions extend beyond the classroom and the MAC campus. His work exemplifies the transformative power of education in strengthening communities and preparing students for success in an ever-changing world. By helping students develop critical thinking skills and a deeper understanding of history and political systems, Greenland equips them with the tools to navigate complex global challenges and become informed citizens.
As Mineral Area College celebrates Greenland’s well-deserved recognition, the institution reaffirms its commitment to supporting faculty who go above and beyond to inspire and educate their students. The Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award not only honors Greenland’s past achievements but also serves as a reminder of the vital role educators play in shaping the future.
Greenland remains dedicated to his work at MAC, continuing to inspire his students and foster a love for learning that extends far beyond the classroom. His recognition by the MCCA is a milestone in a career marked by service, passion, and a deep commitment to education. His colleagues describe him as passionate about his subject matter and say he is a conscientious and hard-working instructor who provides valuable learning experiences for his students.
