‘Winnie the Pooh’ and other upcoming productions to take stage

Fictional characters from the Hundred Acre Wood will soon come to life on the Mineral Area College campus. The cast for “Winnie the Pooh” takes the stage on Sept. 12 and 13 at 6 p.m. and Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. at MAC’s Fine Arts Theater.

The “Winnie the Pooh” cast includes Noah Anderson as Christopher Robin; Kevin Coffman, Winnie the Pooh; Ashton Dane, Piglet; Henry Swinarski, Rabbit; Abigail Kahn, Owl; Courtlyn Dane, Eeyore; Melissa Simmons, Kanga; Betty Wright, Roo; Veda Benz, Animal 1; William Johnston, Animal 2; Elton Benz, Animal 3; and Azalee Anderson, Animal 4.

Crew members include Michael Cantrell, director; Tim Benz, technical director; Griffin Stoeckel, stage manager; Matthew Nelson, Andrew Nelson, Lyn Ruess, Isaiah Ward, Isabella Champion, and Chloe Oneal, stage/set crew; and Shaun Circo, light board operator.

“Winnie the Pooh” Director Michael Cantrell said, “I am so thankful to have been asked back to guest-direct at MAFAA for ‘Winnie the Pooh.’”

He added that the show has been “so much heart and is very faithful to the original work by A.A. Milne.”

“This cast has been an absolute joy to work with and is pouring their hearts into this production for our community,” said Cantrell.

Here are a few of the upcoming arts-related events for fall and early winter:

Sept. 12-14 – “Winnie the Pooh” production at Mineral Area College (tickets: MAFineArts.org)

Sept. 13 – GFWC Monday Club’s “Fall in Love with Art in the Park” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Farmington’s Long Park (artists, vendors, live music, kids’ craft table, tours of historic Long House for $3 ages 12 and up and $1 for 11 and under)

Sept. 21 – Auditions for Mineral Area Fine Arts Academy’s (MAFAA) “It’s A Wonderful Life” at MAC

Oct. 3 – MAC Singers, Community Singers, Chamber Singers and Encore! Concert at 7 p.m. at MAC, $4 admission

Oct. 7 – Community Band and Junior Community Band concert at 7 p.m. at MAC, $4 admission

Oct. 10 – MAFAA Fall Session 1 solo recital, 6 p.m., $2 admission

Oct. 12 – MAFAA Fall Session 1 class showcase at 2 p.m. at MAC, $2 admission

Oct. 16 – An Evening of Jazz and Kicks Band, Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo concert at 7 p.m. at MAC, $4 admission

Oct. 24-26 – MAFAA’s Disney “The Jungle Book KIDS” production at MAC

Nov. 8 – Mineral Area Council on the Arts-sponsored Riverbend concert at 7 p.m. at MAC

Nov. 20-23 – MAFAA’s “It’s A Wonderful Life” production at MAC

Dec. 7 – Auditions for MAFAA’s “Annie” at MAC

Dec. 12-13 – Young People’s Performing Arts Theatre’s “A Merry Christmas Show” at Farmington’s First State Community Center (tickets: Farmington Civic Center in November)
