The Farmington Regional Chamber of Commerce conducted a grand opening and ribbon-cutting on Oct. 1 to celebrate Parachute Plasma, the community’s newest state-of-the-art plasma donation center, located at 729 Sunset Dr. The event was attended by community leaders, fellow chamber members, and other well-wishers.
In his opening remarks, DirectorTony Madrigal said plasma donations support lifesaving treatments for burn victims, cancer patients, and children receiving injectable medications. He highlighted the company’s innovation in expanding access to plasma donation — including the industry’s first patented, fully functional mobile plasma collection unit, designed to bring donation opportunities to more communities nationwide. He shared that a single donation can save two or three lives.
“At the end of the day, there’s a relationship between the donor, the recipient, and the business in the middle,” he said. “It’s a safety net — a parachute. We’re here to change lives.”

A donor demonstrates that donating plasma is easy and comfortable. The process takes about 30 minutes, and she will leave the same day with funds loaded on a debit card. Lisa Brotherton-Barnes
Guests got a behind-the-scenes look at the science and safety behind plasma donation processes and impact, learning about donor eligibility and how plasma donation benefits both recipients and donors. Tours were provided for attendees to witness how plasma donations are safely collected, tested, and stored.
The amount of money a donor can earn depends on factors such as their health conditions or current medications, the frequency of donations, and the time of day the donation is made. Donations can be made up to two times monthly.
