The Blackcat Cross Country teams competed at the Farmington Invitational on Monday, October 20th. This meet also served as the middle school MAJHAA Conference Meet.
In the Varsity Women’s race, Junior Breanna Bone had her strongest race of the season that was highlighted by an impressive surge in her 3rd mile. Bone passed 2 runners with about a half mile remaining to seal a 2nd place finish out of 64 runners with a time of 20:38. This was Breanna’s fastest time of the season, despite the high winds and slow course conditions. Junior Aubree Bess raced her way to a new PR, with Senior Julie Lunsford and Freshman Caedus Presson also competing for the Blackcats.
In the middle school competitions, 6th grader Gracyn Sharp raced her way to a 7th place ALL CONFERENCE finish. 6th graders Gavin Newland, Lucy Braswell and 8th grader Paige Robbins also finished in the top 40 for medals. The MS Girls team finished 4th out of 6 teams in the conference, with the MS Boys finishing 8th out of 9 teams.
This concludes the season for the Middle School squads, while the High School team will compete on Thursday October 23rd at North County and Saturday November 1st at Arcadia Valley for Districts.
