Arcadia Valley 66, Potosi 60
IRONTON – Arcadia Valley posted its fifth consecutive win, and celebrated Homecoming by taking down one of the elite MAAA programs on Friday night.
Kaiden Keith scored 11 of his 20 points during an energetic first quarter, and the Tigers withstood a comeback threat to defeat Potosi 66-60.
Arcadia Valley (13-7) punctuated the second stanza on a 9-0 run. Alec Todd sank his second 3-pointer, and two post field goals by Logan Dunn created a 45-31 cushion at halftime.
Jarel Jackson totaled 13 points and Dunn ended with 12. Their team showed no emotional letdown following a thrilling buzzer beater against North County on Wednesday.
Potosi (14-4) induced a series of fouls, and closed to within five by hitting free throws. But the Tigers still brought a 53-43 lead into the fourth quarter after Wyatt Smith converted a 3-point play.
Kanaan Wilson went an impressive 14-of-15 at the line, and provided a game-high 23 points for the Trojans, whose interior defense struggled without injured senior Thomas Lambing.
Increased pressure helped Potosi steadily chip away down the stretch after Keith extended the margin to 12 on a strong move through traffic.
Rhenn Mapes and Peyton Rowe made consecutive blocks after Mapes scored through contact at the opposite end. Vinny Schrum finished an entry pass to make it 62-58 with 1:05 remaining.
Wilson continued a streak of 13 consecutive made free throws after Mapes emerged with a steal, and the Trojans were suddenly down by only two.
A pivotal judgment call occurred when AV kept possession on a rebound that two players converged to deflect out of bounds. Keith then rebuilt a four-point lead from the stripe with 31 seconds to play.
Brayton Jarvis contributed two triples for the Tigers, who led 23-22 through eight minutes of action.
Rowe converted a 3-point play inside to forge an 18-18 tie after connecting from the perimeter, and dropped in 19 points overall.
Alex Hogan had eight points for the Trojans, who are seeded second in the MAAA tournament bracket while Arcadia Valley occupies the No. 5 line.
Windsor 65, North County 63
IMPERIAL, Mo. – North County executed an exemplary half-court set when Cole Mullins cut along the baseline and received a high-post bounce pass from Noah McMahan.
But the made layup occurred as the Raiders trailed by three with 7 seconds remaining. That enabled Windsor to delay the ensuing inbound as time kept melting away.
The Owls rallied as North County coughed up another sizable fourth-quarter lead, and emerged with a narrow 65-63 victory on Friday night.
Jett Black provided the tiebreaking layup, and Ethan Shirk scored in the paint for a 63-59 separation with 1:18 left in regulation.
Will Weible answered with a putback, but the Raiders failed to attempt a tying 3-pointer after Sam Becker split free throws for Windsor (13-8).
Noah McMahan scored 15 points, Kyle Straughan and Weible tallied 13 each, and Mullins finished with 10 as the Raiders had four players in double digits.
North County (6-12) entered halftime with a 35-34 halftime lead. Mullins nailed back-to-back threes, and Owen Hawkins banked in a pair of runners in the third quarter.
McMahan turned to score in the lane, and the visitors were ahead 53-45 with eight minutes to play. The Raiders have dropped four straight games decided by six points or less.
St. Paul 62, Bourbon 54
BOURBON, Mo. – St. Paul competed for the fourth time in five days, and persevered for a 62-54 comeback victory over Bourbon on Friday night.
Porter Urling compiled 26 points for the Giants, who trailed 41-32 with slightly more than 10 minutes left. Aiden Morris added 12 points, and Caiden Canania finished with 10.
Canania sank a 3-pointer after Urling contributed a putback and runner down the lane, comprising a key 7-0 response before the third quarter concluded.
An inbounds pass from Shawn Luba to a wide-open Morris put St. Paul (7-15) ahead to stay at 45-43 with 6:30 to play. Urling banked in a 10-footer, and found Morris inside for a six-point cushion.
Bourbon (1-20) overcame a 24-16 deficit to square the game 31-31 at halftime.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
St. Vincent 44, Farmington 40
PERRYVILLE, Mo. – Brie Rubel knocked down a tiebreaking 3-pointer on a second chance with 1:54 to play, and St. Vincent edged Farmington 44-40 in a marquee battle on Friday night.
The Indians allowed just a single field goal defensively in the first quarter, and obtained two crucial stops when the Knights tried to overtake them late.
Brie Rubel finished with 13 points, and Kate Rubel tallied 10. St. Vincent (16-5) saw an 8-2 advantage through eight minutes narrow to 18-16 at halftime.
Farmington (14-5) patiently moved the ball inside to draw even. Lila Roth sank two free throws, then made a tying layup on a baseline drive at 38-38.

St. Vincent triumphed despite converting only 4-of-12 free throws.
Madison Clay brought Farmington within 41-40 from the edge of the lane, and netted a team-high 15 points while Roth scored 14 more.
