PARK HILLS – Central freshman right-hander Vivian Sisk powered through the first inning Monday afternoon by boldly striking out three returning all-state hitters.
Her varsity debut only grew more confident and impressive from there, and developed into a historic achievement once the final out was recorded in right field.
Sisk capped her masterpiece – the first seven-inning no-hitter by an MAAA pitcher making her first appearance – with 12 strikeouts while facing just two above the minimum.
Fellow freshman Caitlin Poppe drilled a pair of doubles, and sophomore Kamryn Fraley went 3-for-3 with two RBI as the Lady Rebels defeated West County 5-0 at home.

Central (1-0, 1-0) entered this spring tasked with replacing the production from 4-time all-state players Kaydence Cosby and Sydney Miles, along with current junior college pitcher Alex Neff.
The adversity increased about three weeks ago when junior pitcher and infielder Mallory Blankenship suffered a torn ACL during the basketball season finale.
Those circumstances left the Lady Rebels with no current seniors, one active junior and numerous underclassmen eager to step forward and contribute.
But after a statement victory against the talented Lady Bulldogs, Central is undeniably a formidable conference and district contender.
So much for a rebuilding year.
Katelynn Clark has converted to a leadoff slap hitter, and finished 3-for-4 with two RBI in her first contest since switching to the left-handed batter’s box.
Fraley quickly put the home team ahead 1-0 with a single to center after Lauren Hulsey walked and stole second base. That was all the support their young pitcher would require.
Sisk threw 57 strikes among 86 total pitches, and retired her last 11 batters in succession. Her lone blemishes were two walks issued to Madison Vogelpohl in the first and fourth innings.
Star catcher Maylee Merrill nearly ended the no-hit bid with a slicing liner in the sixth, but Kyndall Eaton reached out for an excellent running catch along the right-field line.

Lone senior Lacey LaMarr earlier tagged a solid drive that Hulsey handled in center field, and West County (0-1, 0-1) grounded out three times to second baseman Jessica LaChance.
Mylah Hicks added solid work behind the plate to accompany Sisk, who was granted a couple of borderline called strikes down and away in the later innings.
West County pitcher Grace Lynch just completed a seven-month recovery from knee surgery, and compiled seven strikeouts while yielding 10 hits in the loss.
Lynch was helped by two outfield assists. LaMarr cut down a runner at home from center, and Kaytli Holbert prevented LaChance from stretching her second single from the right-field corner.
Shortstop Amillyah Ketcherside turned a soft pop fly into a double play with a runner in motion, but the Lady Bulldogs also committed two costly errors.
Central pushed three runs across the plate in the second. LaChance singled, Hicks reached on a dropped throw following a sacrifice bunt, and Poppe connected for an RBI double.
Vogenpohl charged a slow roller and flipped to Merrill for a key first out at home, but an ensuing bunt single by Clark and RBI hit from Fraley made it 4-0.
Poppe capped the scoring with a double to right-center in the sixth.
