Miracles on Main Street will return to Madison County this year on Dec. 6 for its 10th celebration, ushering in the joy and festivities of Christmas with a parade, vendor booths, lights in Azalea and – who but that Kris Kringle leading the charge?

The parade will begin at 6:00 p.m. from Rockwall Park near the town pool and travel up South Main, loop around the court house, continue on West Main and turn left up Park Street to return at Rockwall.

“We are expecting a bigger parade than ever before,” Sarakas said. “We have a large list of participants already, and more coming in every day. We are expecting some very detailed floats this year.”

Judged floats must be in their assigned spot no later than 5 p.m., and non-judged floats by 5:40 p.m. in time for the parade. She said the floats will be a surprise.

No float may feature Santa, as that will be the grand finale, “The perfect caboose sending warm wishes of Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.”

Santa pictures will be from 3-5p.m., Sarakas said. Parents may take their own photos for free. Characters like Disney princesses, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Olaf, The Grinch and others will be available for pictures.

Some other activities include Polar Express Rides, a petting zoo, stocking and ornament decorating, a scavenger hunt, an ugly sweater contest, marshmallow eating and cookie decorating contest and lots more.

The Miracles’ Facebook page invites anyone to dress up as characters, light up Azalea, join the parade, host activities and enjoy vendors and food trucks.

This year Sarakas invites any local business to help light up Azalea Park with Winter Holiday themed displays. They must be installed by Dec. 5 and taken down before January 10.
