Storage barn destroyed in fire

DOE RUN – Personnel from the Doe Run Fire Protection District were dispatched to storage barn fire at approximately 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Captain Kyle Albertina, the building located at 2602 Henson Rd. was approximately 40 percent engulfed in flames when the first crew arrived.

Firefighters immediately established a water supply and were able to stop the fire from progressing.

He said the building was a metal pole barn and appeared to be used for storage of lawn equipment and all-terrain vehicles. Albertina said the owner’s insurance adjusters are expected to visit on Thursday. He said the building appears to be a total loss.

Assisting with the operation were fire departments from Farmington, Wolf Creek, Leadington, Park Hills and Pilot Knob.

Crews remained on the scene until 5:48 p.m.

At this time the cause of the fire is undetermined.
