Call for entries in juried exhibit

Presbyterian Manor in Farmington has issued a call for entries in the 26th Anniversary Art is Ageless juried exhibit to be held Aug. 7 – 9 at Presbyterian Manor and Aug. 10 at Alexander’s at The Factory.

Entries will be accepted from any area artist who is 65 years of age or older to exhibit and/or compete to be featured in the 2007 Art is Ageless calendar.

“We feel it’s an excellent way to invite the community to participate in this annual event and help us celebrate art and the ageless nature of creativity,” said Alison Sheets, marketing director for Farmington Presbyterian Manor.

Entry forms and information are available at Presbyterian Manor, 500 Cayce St., Farmington, or by contacting Sheets at (573) 756-6768 or e-mail at HYPERLINK “asheets@pmma.orgasheets@pmma.org

Artists need to have been age 65 or older when the work was created and works need to have been completed in the past five years (since January 2001).

There are seven categories for works including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, needlework, fiber arts and mixed media. Up to three entries may be made by a single artist with no more than two entries in a single category. Works to be entered for judging need to be at Presbyterian Manor by Aug. 4. Artists may also choose to enter the exhibit only.

Art is Ageless began in 1980 as a competition for residents and employees throughout the Presbyterian Manors system to appear in an annual calendar. Since then, the competition has grown to encompass preliminary judging and exhibits at the local level with winners in each category sent via slide photography to the corporate office for final judging. In addition, arts programs to benefit residents at all levels have provided artistic outlets and therapeutic programs in many Manor locations.

Presbyterian Manor is a not-for-profit active living and wellness community, serving the St. Francois County and the surrounding area since 1962. It is part of the Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America network of 17 locations in Kansas and Missouri with 56 years of experience in senior housing.
