April 8, 2019 the Madison County Commission met. Attending the meeting was Presiding Commissioner Jason Green, First District Commissioner Tom Stephens and Second District Commissioner Larry Kemp. County Clerk Don Firebaugh recorded the minutes. The following business was transacted:


Road and Bridge Supervisor Gregg Pruett said the department hauled rock and graded roads last week. He said the department made a temporary bypass for the washed out bridge on CR 423.

Discussion followed concerning the flood in Madison County in April 2017, FEMA Project #4317. Pruett said FEMA estimated the cost to be $537,506.54. He said after all the expenses were tallied up, the county has spent $705,493.90. Madison County has received $88,865.01 toward the disaster to date. Legislators have been notified.


All three Commissioners checked the condition of roads in Madison County.

Commissioner Kemp attended the Madison County Chamber of Commerce last week. It was held at Beaver Valley Golf Club.

Commissioner Stephens said the replacement beam has been ordered for the lower level of the courthouse that has been destroyed by termites. The contractor will be here April 12, to work on the project.


Accounts payable were presented for approval and payment. Commissioner Stephens made a motion to approve paying the accounts. Commissioner Kemp seconded the motion. The motion carried by.

Additions of $261,000 assessed valuation for personal property was added to Madison County in March 2019 for 2017 and 2018.

No further business was transacted on April 8, 2019, and Commissioner Green adjourned the meeting at 10:59 a.m.
