February 17 and 18, five Fredericktown High School students (JROTC Cadets) competed in the JROTC Army Regional Championships hosted by the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) at Camp Perry, located in Port Clinton, Ohio. To qualify for this competition, the JROTC Cadets competed against 175 Army JROTC Teams consisting of over 1975 Army JROTC Cadets and were selected to compete at the Regional Championships.

The Fredericktown JROTC Cadets who qualified for and competed in this years’ Regional Championships in Ohio included Cadets Shelly Harbison (Regional placement 70th, National placement 225th scoring 959 points), Julia Sikes (Regional placement 79th, National placement 243rd scoring 936 points), Tyler Henson (Regional placement 80th, National placement 244th scoring 935 points), Ryska Berkbuegler (Regional placement 89th, National placement 259th scoring 901 points), and Ethan Orrick (Regional placement 99th, National placement 273rd scoring 785 points).

The Blackcat Marksmanship Team (Sikes, Henson, Harbison, Berkbuegler) shot a combined team score of 3731 points, finishing 18th in the Regional Competition (20 teams competing) and 50th Place in the National Competition (54 teams competing).
