The autumn leaves are falling, and so are the days on the calendar that lead up to the beginning of the spring semester at Mineral Area College.
“Spring classes start Monday, January 14th and, even though that seems like a long way off, registration started October 22nd for currently-enrolled sophomores, October 24th for currently-enrolled freshmen, and it opened to the public October 29th,” Registrar Connie Holder said. “Before we know it, we’ll be registering students in March for summer classes.”
Holder said potential students can visit MAC’s website, www.MineralArea.edu, to apply for admission, check out the registration guide, view course offerings, register for classes, and obtain textbook information.
“Each year, we try to expand the information available on our website and MyMAC, the student portal; both are great resources where students and the public can find answers to questions regarding classes, financial aid, and the college in general,” she said.
Spring semester begins Jan. 14 and ends May 18. The first eight-week semester begins Jan. 14 and ends March 8, with the second eight-week semester beginning March 18 and ending May 18. Many classes are offered evenings, online, and at MAC’s four outreach centers in order to accommodate various time schedules needed by students.
Director of Admissions Julie Sheets said now is the time to make an appointment with an advisor. “Mineral Area College advisors are available to assist students in creating a schedule that’s suitable for their lifestyle,” she said. “Our advisors enjoy consulting with students to select the right plan for a successful academic semester.”
First-time students can apply online at www.MineralArea.edu or contact the Admissions Office at 573-518-2133 for application information. Once admitted, students will be assigned an advisor with whom they can schedule an appointment to discuss degree and course options.
Returning MAC students can update their application and enroll online or schedule an appointment with an advisor and enroll in person. Appointments are available Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. - 4 a.m. and Monday and Wednesday evenings by calling 573-431-4593. All students are encouraged to meet with an advisor to stay on track to graduate.
Students who plan to enroll in English or math courses need to take a placement test if they have not taken the ACT. For a list of on- and off-campus testing dates, call (573) 518-2202 or (573) 518-2188.
Arrangements for paying tuition and fees must be made at the time of registration, and applications for financial aid should be completed before enrolling in classes. For financial aid questions email email@example.com or call (573) 518-2133.
Students can find information textbooks required for each class on the website at www.MineralArea.edu. Spring textbook information will be available online on or about December 10. Spring textbook sales at the campus bookstore, including online and order pick up, will begin Jan. 3.
