Madalyn Rehkop, of Fredericktown, was selected by the Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International as the 2018-19 scholarship recipient at Mineral Area College. Rehkop is pursuing an Associate of Arts in Teaching degree at MAC and plans to graduate in May 2019.

Rehkop credits her high school experience as an A+ Scholarship Program tutor as her inspiration for wanting to become a teacher. She is excited to have the opportunity to inspire young children in her own future elementary school classroom.

Delta Kappa Gamma is a professional honor society of key women educators around the world. The local Theta Chapter represents Madison, St. Francois, Washington, and Iron Counties and has about 35 members. DKG’s mission is to offer fellowship and support for fellow women educators, promoting professional and personal growth to members at all stages of the profession. Each year, the Thetas award a scholarship to a pre-service teacher at Mineral Area College, collect and donate personal care items to local school districts, and reach out to first-year women educators in the region with information welcoming them to the profession.
