The Farmington Downtown Development Association and the Farmington Regional Chamber of Commerce are thrilled to announce the return of the annual Downtown Farmington Christmas Open House.
Shops, restaurants and boutiques throughout beautiful downtown Farmington will “throw open the shutters and raise up the sash” as visitors from far and wide join in the holiday spirit on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Nothing starts the holiday season off better than strolling the streets of beautiful downtown Farmington for unique gifts and tasty treats” says Lisa Sumpter, president of the Downtown Development Association. “Our historic downtown is filled with amazing businesses and friendly people and we invite everyone to be a part of our annual Open House”.
Businesses throughout downtown Farmington will be decorated for the holidays and most will be offering specials and refreshments throughout the day.
“This is the perfect time to get into the holiday spirit and shop local” states Farmington Regional Chamber Director of Events, Laura Raymer. “By shopping local and supporting small businesses, we help unique businesses create character and prosperity, all while investing in our community”.
Historic downtown Farmington has a rich heritage and boasts many buildings with placement on the National Register of Historic Places. From the old Plank Road and Long House to the former county jail and General McCormick’s house, a walk through the downtown area is a walk through history itself. While visiting any of the shops or restaurants during the Open House, attendees should make sure to look for the historic tin ceilings, exposed original brick and woodwork and more treasures around each corner.
