Parson runs strong at Stampede

JOPLIN, Mo. – Farmington sophomore Ryan Parson left his mark among 326 runners in the boys’ varsity cross country race Saturday at the Missouri Southern Stampede.

His time of 16:33.22 was 12th overall at a cross country meet that features schools from several states. Adam Griffith completed the course at 17:24.32 for the Knights.

Knightettes finishes 3-1 at Jackson tourney

JACKSON, Mo. – The Farmington softball team defeated two possible district opponents by substantial margins, and finished fifth in the 16-team Jackson Invitational on Sept. 20.

Hannah Hight went 3-for-4, Olivia Siebert and Allison Pingel added two hits apiece, and the Knightettes topped Poplar Bluff in their tournament finale.

Kaila Nash reached base three times with a double and two intentional walks. She notched her third win of the day with five hits allowed and three strikeouts in the circle.

Farmington advanced to the 5th-place contest following an explosive performance at the plate, as seven players recorded multiple hits in a 21-7 rout over Cape Central.

Nash belted her second grand slam this fall while going 3-for-3, while Siebert was a perfect 4-for-4 and Alyson Tucker ended up 4-for-5.

Hight also homered and added a double in a 3-for-5 effort. Hallye Tucker, Randi Scruggs and Pingel also notched three hits each.

The opening round saw the Knightettes roll past Lutheran South 12-2 as Nash scattered seven hits and fanned four. She also went 3-for-4 with the bat.

Siebert paced the offense by going 4-for-4, including three doubles. Emily Briese contributed a double within three hits, and Pingel singled twice.

Kelly scored three runs in the fourth inning against Hight, and edged Farmington 3-1 in the semifinal round.

The Knightettes mustered just two singles from Brittany Link and Siebert, but grabbed a 1-0 advantage in the opening frame.
