The GFWC Friday Club met Nov. 17 at Follis Hall.

President Doris Firebaugh opened the meeting by leading the members in the pledges to the flags. Janet Ward gave the devotional entitled "Thank You Lord". The minutes and treasurer's reports were approved as read. Treasurer Nenita Talaban shared a correspondence received from Sharon Tinnin thanking the club for their donations to the Salvation Army.

With old business several issues were discussed and resolved.

With new business the club decided to participate in the city holiday electric pole decorating in the downtown area. President Firebaugh reported six of our members were the guests of the Quest Club at their November meeting. The club guests enjoyed the informative program the Quest Club had that was given by April Sarakas on the Relay for Life. She gave a great deal of little known information to the members of the many ways Relay for Life uses its funds locally to benefit cancer victims.

While members enjoyed refreshments provided by hostesses Nenita Talaban and Linda Hogan, Doris Firebaugh gave the program. Her program was on "Giving Tuesday," which is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the many ways we as members can give to our community and beyond through programs endorsed by GFWC. Along with providing detailed information on various national and state programs for giving of ourselves to help others, Doris also gave members a handout report provided by GFWC National describing various community service projects that are specifically related to public issues that may involve other members of the community, other organizations, or our individual clubs or members. These numerous ideas for helping communities were divided into four categories: citizenship, military personnel, emergency and disaster preparedness, and safety and crime prevention. These categories contained some wonderful ideas that Friday Club may entertain in the future to expand our giving programs.

The meeting closed with the reciting of the club collect and the announcement that the December meeting will be held on the 15th at 10:30 at Follis Hall.
