Are you at the point in your life where you feel like all you are doing is just trying to survive?
Every time you turn on any kind of informational device for an update, it seems the news is sad, disturbing, shocking, or devastating. An accident, the death of a loved one or friend, diseases and illnesses, suicides, murders, failed marriages and families broken apart, unimaginable abuses, wars, and the list goes on and on.
It’s no wonder so many people are on drugs or in therapy for depression, anxiety, and mental health.
Hollywood has added to many of our feelings of despair because of the types of movies they produce. Television programs we watch lead us down roads of doubt and concerns. Our jobs add more pressure than ever before, many of them having us ‘on call’ 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Often, we have our children involved in so many extra activities that we find ourselves run ragged in order to keep up with everything. Don’t get me wrong; I’m glad to see young people active and involved instead of sitting in front of an Xbox or tv. But sometimes we become so consumed with things that we don’t stop and take time for being quiet, relaxing, and replenishing our bodies and lives with more valuable decisions.
Again, there are many worthy and outstanding organizations in which we may participate. The decision we all should make is this: Do I really need to do this or am I just using this to fill my time? Many years ago my sweet husband told me that if I didn’t start saying NO, he would do it for me! Everything in which I was involved was good and included my family, BUT I was on the go all the time.
There comes the time for each of us when we must decide what is most important and what is not. I believe our personal relationship and time spent with the Lord should be top priority. Our family should come next and lastly ourselves. That’s not what the world shows us or wants us to believe, but according to God’s Word, when we have our goals correctly set, we will not just be surviving; we will be living.
Don’t let the world determine your future. Take matters into your own hands, ask the Lord for direction, live a full, prosperous, and healthy life and you will be a blessing to everyone around you.
