Eighteen Farmington FFA members submitted Proficiency Awards to the Area 15 competition against 19 other FFA chapters from Southeast Missouri.
Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through their supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs), have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers.
Students can compete for awards in almost 50 areas covering everything from agricultural communications to wildlife management.
Five students won their category and sent their application to state to compete against 15 other area winners. Receiving first place was: Laney Herbst in Veterinary Science, Joy Sparks in Agriscience Research, Brennah Davis in Equine Science, Jazmin Phares in Goat Production, and McKenna Moore in Outdoor Recreation.
Students who received second place were: Sydney Lynn, Garret Holt, Gracie Holt, Hailey Weir, Travis Resinger, Chloe Propst, and Lucas Belken.
Students receiving third or fourth place were: Danel Reese, Amelia Moran, Brittany Ladd, Drew Adams, Madison Brown and Drake O’Neail.
