FARMINGTON – Bryce Sancegraw netted two goals, and John Bader had another shutout between the pipes as the Farmington boys soccer team topped district rival Cape Central 4-0.
Andres Castro and Matt Eaton had the assists to Sancegraw, who began the scoring nearly 15 minutes into the action.
Max Reid buried a header on a pass from Alex England just before halftime to give Farmington a 2-0 lead. Tyler Scales added an unassisted tally from about 20 yards away in the second half.
Farmington 6, Potosi 3
POTOSI – Martha Schwalenberg and Anna Slinkard paired for a top-ranked doubles win before prevailing in singles action as the Farmington girls’ tennis team defeated Potosi 6-3.
Thanh Phan and Kenzie Holland were also convincing 2-time winners for Farmington, which rebounded from a narrow loss to Fredericktown one day earlier.
Granite City Invitational
GRANITE CITY, Ill. – Farmington junior Evan Reeves posted a time of 16:29 to finish 19th out of 203 varsity boys Saturday at the Granite City cross country meet.
The Farmington girls placed seventh in the team standings, and were led by Elizabeth Sutherland (20:29) and Kim Ramos (20:30).
Ben Flowers (15:32) of Jersey (Ill.) and Hannah Deines (18:36) of Villa Duchesne claimed the individual championships.
Notre Dame 178, Farmington 218
FARMINGTON – Sarah Bell carded a 2-under par round of 34 for medalist honors, leading Notre Dame to a tri-match victory at Crown Pointe.
Allyson Bray added an even 36 as the Bulldogs compiled a team score of 178 while taking on Farmington and Ste. Genevieve.
Carly Ferguson recorded the third-lowest round of the day with 38 to pace Farmington, which finished with 218 overall.
