Gallery being renovated

Renovations at the Gallery, Arts and Tourism Center are nearly complete, just in time for First Friday, May 6.

The Gallery is a project of the Chamber of Commerce. The entire First Friday event is a collaborative project between the Chamber of Commerce and Fredericktown Revitalization Initiative, intended to promote the arts and tourism in Madison County.

Renovations in the gallery space began April 2, and have been carried out entirely by volunteers, who have accumulated over 140 hours of work in just three weeks. In that time the space has been completely repainted, carpet removed and floors cleaned and stained.

The supplies and support for the improvements have been paid for by the the generous support of the City of Fredericktown and several local businesses, as well as from private donations. Huge kudos for the City, Gifford Lumber Company, City Glass, and Rick Shoemaker. There are more improvements that will be made over the coming months, such as installation of track lighting.

Located on the 2nd floor, above the Chamber of Commerce at 120 West Main, The Gallery will host First Friday art openings, showcasing local artists as well as poetry readings, story telling, music and potlucks. Stop by 6-8 p.m., Friday May 6, and see what a community can accomplish when they work together!
