Thompson’s 50th Anniversary

Jim and Carolyn Thompson celebrated their Golden Anniversary at First Baptist Desloge Fellowship Hall on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 12 noon.

The couple were both reared in the Belleview Valley area and employed in St. Louis where they started their home after their wedding at the Belleview Baptist Church on August 24, 1963.

After renovating an old farm house Jim received employment with Missouri Lead Mine Co. and they moved to the family farm on Jan 1,1969. In April of 1970, a beautiful red headed bundle of joy, named Amy Sue completed their family. Amy married Jessie McClure in 1989, and are parents of Kevin (Navy) and Kaitlyn.

Jim continued working in the engineer department at the lead mine until 1986 when he retired from Arch Coal Inc. in Creve Coeur in 2000. Carolyn received training in long term care and was a certified Dietary Manager in several facilities in their area. The couple moved to the Delsoge area in November of 1997, and continued to reside there.

Mrs. Barbara Nunn played beautiful music of the love songs for the guests. Pastor Bradford Jaubringer officiated with the renewal of vows and Mrs. Kathy Wigger sang “When God made you”.

Family, friends and church family enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the ladies of the church and friends. The hall was beautifully decorated with gold color candles, mums and centerpieces of gold fish.

A beautiful and delicious wedding cake made by Mrs. Amigo Whitchurch of Farmington, and was purchased by daughter Amy Sue, nieces Cheri Pickedaed, and Lisa Noventey. Great nieces Megan, Abby, Clarie and Neisha passed the cake to the guest.

Relatives from St. Louis, Wildwood, Fenton, Bismarck and Ironton in Mo., Illinois, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Georgia attended the happy event.

50 years, 18,250 days, 438,000 hours, Seven homes, Three towns, One red headed baby, Two precious grandchildren, Times change, yet I love you more as I loved you then, 50 years ago.
