Several injured in recent accidents

Four local residents were injured in recent vehicle crashes.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, at 4:27 p.m. Saturday, Devin Hawkins, 27, of Caledonia, was traveling northbound on Highway 21 south of John Smith Road when the 1998 Ford Ranger he was driving began to hydroplane. The report stated that Hawkins then over-corrected, causing the truck to travel off the left side of the roadway and overturn.

Hawkins was transported to Washington County Memorial Hospital by Washington County Ambulance and was treated for moderate injuries.

The report stated that Hawkins was not wearing a seat belt and the vehicle damage was listed as “total.”

On Sunday, Nicholas Million, 29, of Farmington, sustained serious injuries in an accident that occurred on Old Highway 21 in Jefferson County along the stretch of the highway between Festus and Hillsboro.

According to the report, Million was driving a 2011 GMC Terrain northbound when, at 6:05 p.m, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a rock bluff and overturned. Million was ejected from the vehicle. He was then transported to Mercy Hospital-South by Rock Township Ambulance District and was treated for serious injuries.

The report stated that Million was not wearing a seat belt and the vehicle damage is listed as “total.”

In another accident occurring Sunday night, Charles Allender, 39, of Bonne Terre, reportedly sustained moderate injuries while traveling on Primrose Road just north of Berry Road.

According to the report, at 9:34 p.m., Allender was driving a 1989 Chevrolet Blazer northbound when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree. Allender was then transported by private conveyance to Parkland Health Center in Bonne Terre where he was treated for moderate injuries.

The report stated that Allender was not wearing a seat belt and the vehicle damage was listed as “total.”

An accident also occurred Monday morning.

According to the report, at 6:05 a.m., Christina Heath, 57, of Bonne Terre, was traveling northbound on U.S. 67 just south of Route CC when the 2016 Ford Fiesta she was driving traveled off of the west side of the roadway striking a median wall.

Heath was transported to Mercy Hospital-Jefferson, by Joachim-Plattin Ambulance and she was treated for moderate injuries.

The report stated that Heath was wearing a seat belt and the vehicle damage was listed as “total.”
