Two killed in separate crashes Wednesday morning

A Park Hills man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on US 67 at Papin Road in Jefferson County Wednesday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 6:21 a.m., Timothy J. Womack, 27, of Park Hills, was driving a 2014 Nissan Altima west when he pulled into the path of a 2016 Dodge 2500 driven by Dustin Cain, 41, of Arnold, on southbound US 67.

The report states Womack was pronounced dead at the scene. Cain was taken Mercy Jefferson for minor injuries. Both vehicles were listed as totaled.

A Ste. Genevieve man was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Route Z at St. Mary Church Road on Wednesday morning.

According to MSHP, at 4:50 a.m. Billie Nickelson, 21, of Ste. Genevieve, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt eastbound when he crossed the centerline and struck a 2016 Mack 600 driven by Darrel Defreitas, 56, of Carbondale, head-on.

Nickelson was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was not injured.

A Leadington police officer received minor injuries in a crash on Highway 32 at Woodlawn Wednesday morning.

According to the patrol, at 6:43 a.m. Marvin Chapman, 61, of Leadington, was driving a 2018 Ford Explorer southbound and attempted to travel with emergency lights activated through the intersection on a red light. A westbound 2018 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Mary J. Young, 44, of Farmington, did not observe the police vehicle. The front of the police car struck the side of the Camaro.

Chapman was taken to Parkland Health Center for treatment.

Four individuals were injured in a crash on Highway 21 at Schroer Road in Washington County on Wednesday afternoon.

The report states at 4:45 p.m., a southbound 2020 Chevrolet Trax driven by Heather Kail, 46, of Potosi, was stopped to make a left turn. The front of 1992 Chevrolet Caprice driven by Andrew Robinson, 23, of Farmington, struck the rear of the Trax.

Kail received minor injuries at Washington County Memorial Hospital. A juvenile passenger, age 13, received moderate injuries.

Robinson and his passenger, Rebecca Pfingtston, 27, of Farmington received moderate injuries and were taken to Washington County Memorial.
