At 7:25 a.m., the patrol report states, a 2008 Buick Lucerne driven by Kevin R. Williams, 39, of Washington, was stopped on MO-47 northbound to make a left turn near Timberview Drive. A 2016 Nissan Juke driven by Jason A. Grindstaff, 46, of Farmington, began to stop for the Buick.

The report said the front of a 2013 GMC Savana driven by Travis E. Umfress, 28, of St. Clair, struck the rear of the Nissan and the Nissan traveled off the right side of the roadway. The GMC continued to skid and hit the rear of the Buick, crossed the center of the roadway, and came to a stop.
