Confrontation leads to hit run

The Desloge Police Department responds to a hit and run Monday morning off Bush Lane between Imo's and a doctor's office.

A Desloge man in his 40s was injured during a hit and run incident Monday at 11:34 a.m. off Bush Lane in Desloge.

According to Desloge Police Chief James Bullock the man was at the doctor’s office adjacent to Imo’s and there had been a verbal confrontation between him and a woman in the doctor’s office.

“He was walking north on Bush Lane when the suspect hit him from behind and left the scene,” said Bullock. “The responding officer was able to speak with the victim at Parkland North Hospital and he gave a vehicle description and a plate number, along with a description of the driver.”

The man described the vehicle as a blue Chevy Cavalier with a female driver. Bullock said that the officer also discovered at that time that there had been a verbal confrontation in the doctor’s office just prior to the hit and run.

“The officer was able to confirm that the suspect was supposed to be back to the doctor’s office at 1 p.m. so he waited to see if she would return,” said Bullock. “When she did come back, he spoke with her and placed her under arrest.”

The 52-year-old white female from Park Hills was taken to the St. Francois County Jail for a 24-hour hold, pending formal charges. Bullock said that potential charges will include second-degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident.
