A Potosi man was fatally shot early Saturday morning after he reportedly kidnapped his aunt and threatened to kill occupants of a home in rural St. Francois County.
Sheriff Dan Bullock said 49-year-old Tim Anderson, of Potosi, kidnapped his aunt from Potosi early Saturday morning and drove east on Highway 8.
The aunt later told investigators her nephew kept firing a 9 mm pistol as he drove. It is believed the man was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Bullock said the man drove to a home on Eaton Avenue in Wortham where he continued firing the pistol. From outside, he threatened to kill everyone who was inside the home, including at least two children.
The sheriff said a man who was working outside on his truck nearby heard the shots and threats and retrieved a 12-gauge shotgun from a building on his property and shot Anderson one time as he was entering the home. No one else was injured.
Initially, Bullock said, it was believed Anderson had been at the same address earlier that night. But investigators were trying to determine why he kidnapped his aunt.
