North County Board of Education to meet

The Mineral Area College Board of Trustees and three school boards will hold meetings today. 

Mineral Area College

The Mineral Area College Board of Trustees will meet in regular session at 2 p.m. today in the boardroom on the school's Park Hills campus.

According to the tentative agenda, the board will hear President Dr. Steve Kurtz' state of Missouri report; the 2017 summer and fall enrollment reports; NJCAA awards recognitions; and reports from both the classified staff and faculty forum.

In new business, the trustees will approve the school's 2018 budget and summer recommendation lists; renew the conflict of interest policy; approve the first reading of Board Policy Article III; the lease for Perryville Higher Education Center Operations; the procurement of two 12-passenger vans; and consider a recommendation for athletic insurance coverage.

The meeting is open to the public.

North County

The North County School Board of Education will meet in regular session today at 6 p.m. in the Administration Building, located at 300 Berry Road in Bonne Terre.

Listed under actions items are the approval of the updated regulation regarding students with head lice, setting of the July board meeting and work session, consideration of a date change for August meeting and approval of tuition reimbursement/salary increases.

The board will also consider salary adjustments to the salary schedule for the 2017-18 school year, approve the tentative budget for 2017-18, approve the non-resident tuition rate for Sunrise students only and consider approval of additional class. They will also award bids for asphalt paving and repairing projects, for replacing the heating unit at district bus garage and repairing and resurfacing the high school tennis courts.

Items on the agenda under communications is the 2017-2018 student and faculty handbooks, transportation, nurses, activities/athletic and custodial/maintenance handbooks and the district-wide assessment and evaluation plan.

West County

The West County Board of Education is meeting at 6 p.m. for a regular session in the Board of Education room located at 1124 Main St. in Leadwood.

Before beginning the formal agenda, board members will recognize the district’s Special Olympics athletes.

In reports, the board will hear about career education and “School-to-Careers.” Board members will also hear presentations from school administrators and the superintendent.

In new business, board members will consider grocery, milk and bread bids for the next school year; various funds transfers; a final budget amendment for the current school year; and a tentative budget for the upcoming school year. In addition, the board will look at the salary schedule for certified and classified staff and building attendance and discipline policies for the upcoming school year.

Items of old business will include updates on fundraisers, capital projects and same-season multi-sport participation.

The Bismarck Board of Education will move through a lengthy agenda when it meets in regular session at 6 p.m. tonight in the elementary school library.

According to the tentative agenda, the board will consider approval of the substitute teacher list; budget amendments; payments and bills for balance of fiscal year 2017; adoption of the final fiscal year 2017 budget as the fiscal year 2018 budget; IDEA assurance statement; 2017-18 compliance officer; annual report on Differentiated Instruction; 2017-18 student and athletic handbooks; student policy 2656; drug policy and procedures; cancellation of the July board meeting; approval of paying bills and acceptance of bread and milk bids; 2017-18 salary schedules; report of the superintendent; and a donation to the Bismarck Fire Department for Freedom Fest 2017.
