Two women received injuries in a head-on collision that occurred at 12:55 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Route OO and Old Fredericktown Road in St. Francois County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the accident took place when a northbound 2002 Ford Focus driven by Dorothy J. Lawrence, 71, of Fredericktown, crossed the centerline, striking head-on a southbound 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Linda E. Link, 65, of Farmington.
The Monte Carlo rolled over off the right side of the roadway and Link had to be extricated from the vehicle prior to being taken from the scene by Air Evac and transported to Mercy Hospital St. Louis where she was treated for serious injuries.

Lawrence was transported to Madison Medical Center by St. Francois County EMS where she was treated for moderate injuries.
According to Lawrence’s sister who arrived on the scene of the accident and spoke with her sibling before she was taken to the hospital, her sister told her she had been distracted by a bee flying around in the passenger compartment of her vehicle and while swatting at it, crossed the centerline causing the accident.
The patrol’s report states that both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
