Two area teens were injured in a vehicle crash New Year’s Day at 9:15 p.m. off Route O in Ste. Genevieve County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Michael Buchheit, 19, of Ste. Genevieve, was driving his 2006 Nissan 350Z southbound on Route O just south of Interstate 55 when he partially went off the right of the road.
Buchheit then over-corrected to the left and began rotating counterclockwise. The car then went off the left side off the road and hit an embankment. The Nissan then overturned several times before coming to a rest on the left side of the road on its top.
Buchheit was not wearing his seat belt and was taken to St. Anthony’s Medical Center by Ste. Genevieve County Ambulance District with serious injuries. His passenger, Nathaniel Davis, 19, of Ste. Genevieve, was also seriously injured and was wearing his seat belt. Davis was airlifted by Survival Flight to Mercy-St. Louis.
