With only 160 days left until I tie the knot, time seems to be running out. I have so much left to do —  invitations, dresses for the bridesmaids, tuxedos for all the men, guest list, rings, applying for the marriage license (which, I was unaware I even had to do) and I’m sure I could sit here and think of quite a few more things that should be on my list, but I only have so much hair left.

My bridesmaid Jessica has solved one of the biggest problems I was having, somewhere to get our hair done that was not scheduled to be closed on New Year’s Day. Shear Fusions in Farmington has agreed to open the salon so that all of the girls can get their hair done at one place. The salon has two full-time stylist on duty and Jessica is bringing another in to work on her hair. All I need now is one or two more stylists and each girl will have their own so that there is no wasted time spent waiting.

I have not even started picking out invitations or where I will have them printed. I have glanced at some online store prices and I am now suffering from sticker shock. I am currently exploring price sensitive options. Not cheap but budget friendly. I have started a tentative guest list for my side of the family but knowing who to invite from Jared’s side will have to come from his parents. I will get with all of the parents soon to get the list sorted and trimmed to fit my limit of 200 guests.

Dresses for the bridesmaids have been chosen, a floor length dark blue with ivory trim Alfred Angelo gown. As my wedding is taking place in the dead of winter the girls will most likely get wraps to go over their shoulders. As for the tuxedos, getting all the men to agree on one thing will be near impossible so I will get two or three selections and Jared and I will decide. The hardest part for this endeavor will be getting my blue collar father to put on a penguin suit. For my sister’s wedding he wore a white shirt but left off the tie and jacket. For my wedding he will have to go with the whole ensemble.

The rings will be the easy part, or so I hope. Diamonds and More Jewelers has a wedding band that perfectly matches my engagement ring. As for Jared’s ring I believe he has decided to go with a tungsten wedding band but this could change at the drop of a hat. Tungsten wedding bands are extremely durable and are more scratch resistant than titanium, gold or platinum.

I have some items checked off my list this past month and a half. I have completed re-doing the theme on my guest book, cake cutters, album, ring pillow and garter belts. I have taken off the two hearts theme that was on them and recreated them in the snowflake theme. I have yet to get the unity candles or the flower baskets but all will come together in time, or so Jessica says.

As for the many other items on my to do list I will be searching for the caterer this next month and will hopefully have the decision made on what to serve. I will also be diligently working on my guest list and searching for the perfect invitation as well as get together with all my bridesmaids to put together another list of to dos for decorations for both the ceremony and reception.
