Places

Are there certain ‘places’ in your life that bring back special memories? For instance, maybe it is the ‘place’ where you grew up. I grew up in the country, where we had ponies, horses, cows, orange groves, and huge Australian pine trees all around the property. It was a quiet and peaceful place, away from the hustle and bustle of our small town. But it was a place where I felt safe and loved. Maybe you were brought up in the city, with all the activity of shop owners and businesses all around and this was your haven. Regardless of your surroundings, it was still home.

Another ‘place’ for memories could have been your school. Good, bad, or otherwise, we have memories of our maturing days in school. I’m sure there were teachers who made huge impressions on you that helped to influence your future careers whether you realized it at the time or not.

I would hope that the church you attended brings back special memories as you joined others in learning and worshipping together. Our youth groups, church camps, and talking sessions were valuable tools in my life. Again, this was a ‘place’ that helped to form my relationships with others and with God. A park where someone proposed to you, a mountain top where you could view the beauty of God’s creation, an historical monument that reminded you of the sacrifices other gave for your freedoms, an island where it was peaceful and still, a country that you visited and learned about different cultures; all of these ‘places’ will have special significance for you and bring back memories that will last a lifetime. They may be just ‘places’ to others, but for you, they are memories that will not be erased. It’s true, not all ‘places’ have good memories, but think back to some of your special ‘places’ and have a wonderful walk down memory lane.
