Newspaper and radio team for job fair

A job fair will be held Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Centene Center.

Employers that will be present include: Charter Communications, Valley Springs Youth Ranch, MAC Truck Driver Training, Robinson Construction, Western Southern Financial, Corizon Correctional Healthcare, Ozark Steel, Kelly Services/TG Missouri, the United States Navy, Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, SEMO Truck Driver Training, Lee Mechanical, Accent Marketing, Parkland Health, Purcell Tire, Pyramid Home Health, Farmington Children’s Home, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Mineral Area College.

L.I.F.E., Inc. Employment Solutions will also be at the event. The corporation offers beneficiaries of the Social Security Administration’s SSDI and SSI programs information and support to successfully transition off of disability benefits and into meaningful employment at a sustaining level through the SSA’s Ticket to Work Program.

Laura Maize, inside sales manager at the Daily Journal, invites people to visit the job fair with these tips in mind. “First impressions are very important, so dress for the job you want and give a firm hand shake. Smile, be polite, and speak clearly and professionally with the employers. Make that employer remember you.”

Staff from the Missouri Career Center will be on hand to assist job seekers with resume services and interview techniques.

“We are going to have a mini career center set up where we’ll have laptops available so those people needing to complete online applications will be able to do it right at the job fair,” said Linda Fitzgerald, Division of Workforce supervisor/ functional leader for the Park Hills Missouri Career Center.

The job fair is hosted by the Daily Journal and KREI/KTJJ Radio, and is sponsored by ODACS, Inc.
