Services here for murdered relatives

Funeral services are pending here for two of three family members murdered in St. Louis.

Norma Jean Currington Manolakos, 76, and Nedra &#8220Carol” Flippo, 56, lived in St. Louis but had also lived in St. Francois County. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Shearin Funeral Home in Bonne Terre.

Manolakos is the mother of both Flippo and Michael Politte, who were found dead in their Lemay home Wednesday. Police believe Flippo’s son, Anthony &#8220Tony” Lynn killed the relatives and left them in a closet in the basement before a standoff with police.

Lynn’s funeral arrangements were to be handled by Cozean Funeral Home in Farmington.

Officer Rick Eckhard told the St. Louis Post Dispatch that autopsies showed Lynn’s mother and his grandmother both died from blunt trauma to the head and their dead bodies were stabbed multiple times. Lynn’s uncle was shot to death and also showed signs of beating.

According to the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the medical examiner’s office could not pinpoint what day the family died, but police believe it was either Thanksgiving Day or the night before.

Relatives began to worry when Manolakos’ brother, Gerald Currington of Park Hills, went to their home and no one answered. Police were notified. The family had last heard from them on Nov. 22.

According to the Associated Press, when an officer tried to enter a back door, police said 38-year-old Lynn shot the officer three times in the back of the leg. That prompted a five-hour standoff. At 3:30 a.m. Nov. 27, police fired tear gas into the home. Lynn climbed out a second-story window, with his dog, onto a metal awning. He reached back into the window to retrieve two guns, police said.

Lynn raised a weapon, and a police sniper shot and killed him, police said.

The injured officer, Sean Haefeli, was treated at a hospital.

Police searched the home that night but did not find the bodies inside until a days later.
