College 101 – Making it Easier for High School Seniors To Reach Higher Education
Which college is best for me? Can I afford it? When do I need to enroll? How
do I enroll? Help!
The Madison County University of Missouri Extension Council saw a need in the
school community to help students navigate the college maze. Our school counselors
and teachers do an excellent job but there are so many students with so many different
needs. And no matter how prepared we as parents think we are, additional help with
the college paperwork game is always useful.
The Extension (Council) is putting together college-bound student packets that will
be available at school open houses and other school activities. Included in the packets
will be lists of local scholarships, college admission criteria, and web sites for various
colleges and other financial aid information. They will also include step-by-step plans to prepare
for college and a calendar listing important deadlines. More information will be available
as the year progresses.
The (Council) is trying to pull together some of the most important information
to help the college-bound student get a good solid start on his/her college career.
There
are thousands of web sites students and parents can access for college information.
It
can quickly become overwhelming. The Madison County Extension Council wants to make this process a little
bit easier and a whole lot less intimidating. You can reach the Council through the University of Missouri Extension Office at 573-783-3303 Mon-Fri 8 am to 4 pm.
See you at the Open House!
