COTTLEVILLE, Mo. -- Brad Cuyos punctuated a huge day at the plate with two home runs, and the Mineral Area baseball team completed a 4-game road sweep on Saturday with victories of 7-2 and 10-2 over St. Charles.
Game 1 saw freshman Andrew Suiter (4-4) pitch his third complete game of the spring and carry a no-hitter into the sixth inning before losing his shutout bid in the seventh.
The Ste. Genevieve graduate recorded five strikeouts, and was handed an immediate lead when the Cardinals netted two runs in the opening frame.
Dakota Glore paced the MAC offense by going 3-for-4 with seven total bases on a triple and two separate RBI doubles.
Cuyos finished 3-for-4 with three RBI and Logan Bradley singled twice. Hunter Leeper had an RBI double while Cory Lubinski and Connor Davault singled.
The Cardinals capitalized on five St. Charles errors in the second contest and compiled 15 hits overall while Jordan Savage (2-2) threw four innings for the win.
Cuyos went 4-for-5 to earn three RBI, and now has 13 home runs on the season. His solo blast occurred in the first inning, and a 2-run shot in the fourth created a 5-0 lead.
Leeper belted his eighth homer in the seventh inning while going 2-for-4, and MAC also got two hits apiece from Charlie Palmer and Glore.
Jake Moore recorded a 3-inning save with scoreless work from the bullpen. St. Charles failed to capitalize on seven walks.
Tanner Ward and Lubinski chipped in RBI hits as the Cardinals (25-23) improved to 10-14 in the Region 16 standings.
Mineral Area will travel to Wabash Valley on Tuesday before closing the regular season with a region series against North Central.
