Sophomore first baseman Mitch Barrow compiled 12 home runs, 51 RBI, a .347 batting average and .612 slugging percentage as a First Team all-region selection this season for the Mineral Area baseball team.

PARK HILLS – Sophomore Mitch Barrow solidified his presence as a dangerous power hitter for the Mineral Area baseball team during a doubleheader in March.

He crushed four home runs in a sweep at North Arkansas, and carried that success into the opening weekend of the Region 16 schedule.

Barrow opened April with a 9-game hit streak that included five more dingers and 11 RBI, and moved him atop several statistical categories for the Cardinals.

The left-handed swinging first baseman was selected last weekend to the Region 16 First Team, while teammates Liam Hicks and Kollin Stone earned Second Team status.

Mineral Area finished third in regular season region play and fourth at the tournament while capping the spring with a 27-23 overall record.

Barrow accumulated team highs with 12 home runs, 51 RBI and a .612 slugging percentage. His 59 hits and .347 batting average were second-most on the squad.

Hicks was a standout at shortstop with his .370 average, along with 60 hits, 33 walks and three triples to lead the Cardinals. He also connected for seven homers and 31 RBI.

The freshman from Toronto notched a season-high four hits in a loss against Jefferson, and went 10-of-13 during a four-game series sweep of St. Louis.

Stone emerged from a relief role last year to become the ace of the starting rotation, and registered 10 strikeouts over six innings to beat North Central on March 4.

The right-hander had a 5-3 record in 10 starts with four complete games, and amassed a 4.50 ERA while fanning 62 batters over 52 innings pitched.
