OZARK, AL — The Mineral Area Cardinals again shared wins in a doubleheader with their opponent. After splitting a pair with Faulkner State on Sunday, the Cardinals split with the Enterprise State Boll Weevils on Monday, winning the first game 2-1 in extra innings, but dropping the nightcap 6-1.
Dylan McEwin pitched all eight innings of game one striking out nine batters and spreading out six hits to claim the complete-game win.
Lance Fields walked twice in the game and he scored both runs for the Cardinals with Brad Ridings and Dylan Mays providing the RBI singles. Tanner Glore and Mays had two singles apiece, and Tyler Bunge and Brad Matson each had one.
In game two, the Cardinals could not come up with clutch hits as they had 11 hits off of Boll Weevil pitcher Keelin Alsobrooks, but they could only capitalize once with Fields again scoring the only run on a double by Bunge in the first inning.
Cameron Ross took the loss for Mineral Area, despite giving up only two earned runs. Ridings was 3-3 at the plate, and Dominique Smith, Cody Garlington, Glore and Matson had one single each.
Mineral Area (10-5) will take on Jefferson Davis today in Brewton, Alabama.
