Mineral Area freshman Lexi Adams had three of the Lady Cardinals' seven hits during a doubleheader against Lewis & Clark on Wednesday.

GODFREY, Ill. – On the heels of a doubleheader loss against powerful Three Rivers, the Mineral Area softball team struggled at the plate on Wednesday.

Lewis & Clark rallied for a 3-2 victory in walk-off fashion during game one, and prevailed 5-0 when the Lady Cardinals managed just one hit in the rematch.

Mineral Area scored two runs in the second inning of the opener as Kati McCormack picked up an RBI single. Lewis & Clark tied the game at 2-2 in the sixth.

Lexi Adams finished 2-for-3, starting pitcher Alyssa Rennick singled twice, and RikkiLyn Wright reached base twice on a single and walk for the Lady Cardinals.

Mineral Area (5-15) faced a 4-0 deficit through one inning of game two, and registered its lone hit when Adams doubled.

Thursday’s scheduled doubleheader at Jefferson was postponed until Sunday. MAC is scheduled for a neutral field twin bill against North Arkansas on Friday in Lebanon, Mo.
