UNION, MO. – Kelly McMahon capped a 4-for-4 performance with a leadoff single that sparked a four-run surge in the sixth inning, helping the Mineral Area softball team snap an eight-game slide.

Lexi Adams slugged her team-high fourth home run of the season while going 2-for-4 overall, and the Lady Cardinals edged East Central 7-6 in game two of a Region 16 doubleheader.

Alyssa Rennick delivered a go-ahead, two-RBI single with the bases loaded, then completed the save in the circle by notching a game-ending strikeout with two runners aboard.

RikkiLyn Wright rebounded after allowing three runs in the first inning, and pitched into the seventh for the win. She yielded 11 hits and five earned runs, and entered the final frame with a lead.

Adams tied the game at 3-3 with a two-run shot in the third inning. Brandi Huber, who singled and scored in the sixth, lifted a sacrifice fly after McMahon doubled in the second.

Alyssa Sago tacked on an RBI infield hit that stood as the decisive run. Desiree Thomas also singles for Mineral Area (9-23, 2-2)

Alyssa Moore doubled twice and equaled Lauren Grunwaldt by going 3-for-4 to pace East Central (7-13, 2-4) Mallory Feldewerth added two doubles, and Seeley Friend had two singles.

Madelyn Webb tallied three strikeouts and allowed 10 hits in the loss.

Maya Street dominated the Lady Cardinals in game one, tossing a three-hit shutout with four strikeouts as the host Falcons prevailed 4-0.

Grunwaldt went 3-for-4 with a triple, and Katelyn Gaus had a triple with two runs scored. Feldewerth and Marissa Boyd contributed two hits apiece to the victory.

Sago lasted the duration with 10 hits and three earned runs surrendered in defeat. She collected three strikeouts and issued no walks.

Paige Battreal, Marissa Worth and Thomas singled for MAC.

Lake Land swept the Lady Cardinals 13-0 and 30-3 on Friday.
